October News

Another busy and surprising month in the life of an independent artist and accidental content creator.

Latest News

If I'm honest, since it sprung back into life six months ago, www.kevhardy.com had evolved into a slightly confusing and meandering experience for visitors as I added new options and tinkered with the pages over time. Also most of you are using your mobile phones to view the pages rather than laptops or desktop computers. So I have redesigned the site to make this a much more pleasant and useful experience.

It now uses images you can swipe through (rather than having to scroll down) and links to navigate directly to a gallery and purchase page with all buying options in one place.

I've also added new sections explaining how to commission an illustration, along with a list of frequently asked questions.

Reels

The success of my humorous reels on social media continues to surprise me. After returning from holiday in Spain, I posted a video of my brother Sean attempting to play pool on the outdoor table at our rented apartment in Palma Nova. It went viral and has now attracted five million views on Instagram! Expect a blog exploring this phenomenon very soon.

Blogs

The blog post A Poke in the Right Direction explores how a little humour has introduced a much wider audience to my serious work and what this means to Kev Hardy Art.

Am I Good Enough explores imposter syndrome, something that has had a huge impact on my life and work. Judging by the emails I've received, it's something many of you can relate to as well.

The, as yet unpublished, 'The Platform Conundrum' blog will ask how the same video can get 5 million views on Instagram but only around 700 views on TikTok. I'll be releasing this into the world once a little experiment I am running is complete.

New Work

The Buckingham Palace illustration is now complete, after 46 hours of work, and is available to buy from the website. I'm really happy with how it's turned out, despite the ridiculous amount of detail!

I have a feeling it could give Big Ben a run for its money as my bestseller. You wouldn't believe how many Americans have bought a print of Big Ben!

I've also stumbled across some brilliant photographs of Nelson's Column, particularly of Admiral Nelson himself, which have inspired me to draw the monument from a rather unusual angle. Expect a teaser reel sometime soon.

Competition

There were no correct answers to September's Finer Details Competition, so it carried over into October with a slightly larger image to help with the guessing which prompted a flurry of entries!

The winner, drawn at random from the correct entries, was Martyn from Reading. He'll soon be receiving a signed Kev Hardy print of his choice.

Reels

I've now settled on a much more manageable schedule for posting reels, giving me more time to concentrate on my illustrations too. You can expect serious art content every Tuesday and Thursday, with something a little more humorous at the weekends!

As ever, thank you for your continued support. If you've bought a print, shared a reel, entered a competition, or simply taken the time to read this, it genuinely means a great deal.
