Nestled within Southampton’s historic Old Town, The Duke of Wellington is one of the city’s oldest and most characterful public houses.
Dating back several centuries, the timber-framed building reflects Southampton’s rich maritime heritage and has welcomed generations of sailors, merchants and local residents. Named after the celebrated military leader Arthur Wellesley, the 1st Duke of Wellington, the pub stands as a reminder of both the city’s historic importance as a port and the enduring role of traditional inns as centres of community life.
Today, it remains a much-loved landmark, combining historic charm with a strong connection to Southampton’s past.
